Leading Age Services Australia will provide effective services and a voice advocating for retirement living and emerging approaches in housing for older Australians.
The greatest growth in the age services sector is in community care and accommodation tailored to the needs of older Australians. Increasingly older consumers seek accommodation and also to access services delivered in that environment.
LASA will work across the industry and with government to ensure funding and policy reflects the contribution and needs of providers of accommodation for older Australians.
Many providers have invested in recent years in low cost social housing and LASA will work closely across the sector and with governments to ensure appropriate policy and funding for low income older Australians.
LASA also leads in representation and services to the Retirement Village sector. LASA is a shareholder in the International Retirement Community Accreditation Scheme (IRCAS).
The Retirement Living Committee:
- Will include representatives from each state in the Federation and a nominee from the national office, including providers of accommodation and housing for older Australians.
- The RLC will report to the LASA Board via the national CEO on policy and service delivery priorities of accommodation providers.
- The RLC will meet quarterly and will include two face-to-face meetings each year, with the alternative meetings conducted via teleconference.
- Queensland will chair and facilitate the RLC Committee in the 2012-13 financial year.
